Lighting the candles
I sing my prayers to you
That you may bear witness
I am a warrior of God.
My mission is to do his will.
Yet many a time I have been asked,
With curiosity, disdain, and fear "What does it mean to be a warrior of your God?".
To be a warrior of God. I do not live by the bloody sword, which brings nothing but pain and misery; nor do I live by the shield, which bashes and rebuts all who come near.
To be a warrior of God, I live by the cloak and the kettle.
Instead of cutting down the wiccans who chant in the fields, I open my door to welcome their tired feet.
Instead of burning the dancing gypsies at the stake, I place a blanket over their cold and weary shoulders.
Instead of persecuting those who do not believe in the one God, I cook a warm meal for their hungry bellies.
My honor is compassion.
My duty is love.
It matters not who knocks upon the door. As God answered me in my despair, so I shall answer any call for help.
